Thank you for your interest in  Johns Hopkins University Summer 2020. We are ready to help you seize the summer.

Our application page is down as we prepare to roll out a new and improved site. Please check back.

PRE-COLLEGE STUDENTS

Summer Term

  • Application with non-refundable application fee $85
  • Official Academic Transcript (with Fall 2019 grades)*. Official transcripts must be signed or stamped and sent to us directly by your school (via email or post).
  • Standardized test scores (PSAT, SAT, or ACT)
  • GPA 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • One (1) Letter of Recommendation (from a teacher, principal, or guidance counselor)
  • TOEFL, iELTS, or Duolingo scores (International applicants only)**
  • Must be 16 years old by the start of the class/program.
  • Completed at least one year of high school

 

Summer Academy

  • Application with non-refundable application fee $85
  • Official Academic Transcript (with Fall 2019 grades)*. Official transcripts must be signed or stamped and sent to us directly by your school (via email or post).
  • GPA 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • One (1) Letter of Recommendation (from a teacher, principal, or guidance counselor)
  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores (International applicants only)**
  • Optional Standardized test scores (PSAT, SAT, or ACT)
  • Must be 16 years old by the start of the class/program.
  • Completed at least one year of high school

 

Summer Intensive and Summer Insitute

  • Application with non-refundable application fee $85
  • Official Academic Transcript (with Fall 2019 grades)*. Official transcripts must be signed or stamped and sent to us directly by your school (via email or post).
  • GPA 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • One (1) Letter of Recommendation (from a teacher, principal, or guidance counselor)
  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores (International applicants only)**
  • Enrollment Forms
  • Must be 15 years old by the start of the class/program.
  • Completed at least one year of high school

 

VISITING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Summer Term and Summer Academy

  • Application with non-refundable application fee $85
  • Official Academic Transcript (with Fall 2018 grades) *. Official transcripts must be signed or stamped and sent to us directly by your school (via email or post).
  • GPA 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores (International applicants only)**

 

*An official transcript is required for full admission to a summer course or program at The Johns Hopkins University. We will take action on an application with an unofficial transcript by providing provisional admission. Full admission must be obtained no later than one week prior to the start of the course or program. Admission will be revoked in instances where applicants do not resolve their provisional status. No refund will be permitted.

**A high level of proficiency in English is expected of applicants for summer programs and courses at The Johns Hopkins University. Applicants should typically receive a minimum of 100 total for the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) with preferred sub-scores of 26 (Reading), 26 (Listening), 22 (Writing), and 25 (Speaking). A score of 7.0 or higher on each band is expected on IELTS, and a score of 75 or higher is expected for the Duolingo English Test (DET). International applicants who have attended an English speaking school (high school or college) for a minimum of two years are waived from the proficiency requirement.

CURRENT HOPKINS STUDENTS

All Hopkins students should log on to SIS to register for summer courses. 
Incoming Johns Hopkins Freshman must provide their Hopkins Acceptance Letter as confirmation.

RETURNING STUDENTS

Students who have attended Hopkins Summer Programs in the past and are applying to the same program are considered pre-certified. If you have previously attended Discover Hopkins (now Summer Intensive) and are applying to Summer Academy or Summer Term, our office can provide you an application fee waiver. However, these programs have additional application requirements that must be submitted for consideration of acceptance. OSIP confirms applicants who indicate they are pre-certified.

  • Transcript, including Fall 2018 grades.
  • International Applicants: Once accepted into the program, international students requiring an F-1 Visa will receive an email titled “Request for Information: Summer Programs at Johns Hopkins- Request for I-20.” Students should follow instructions in the email for completing an I-20 request. For Visa questions, please contact Office of International Services.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International Applicants: Once accepted into the program, international students requiring an F-1 Visa will receive an email titled “Request for Information: Summer Programs at Johns Hopkins- Request for I-20.” Students should follow instructions in the email for completing an I-20 request. For Visa questions, please contact Office of International Services.

*We must receive your official transcript before an I-20 can be processed.

All international transcripts must be sent to us via WES. More details will be found in the application.
